The Nu-Look Family of Cleaners Story
Founded in 1948
Nu-Look Kleeners was founded in 1948 on Center Street in Henderson, KY.
New Ownership
In 1970, Martin J. “Sonny” Mills and his wife Marsha Mills bought Nu-Look Kleeners. Their ownership revitalized the company’s approach to the customer.
Relocation and Name Change
In 1971 Sonny relocated the business to 430 Second Street in Henderson, KY and changed the name to Nu-Look Cleaners where the plant still resides today.
2nd Generation Joins the Team
In 1989, Sonny’s son, Robby Mills, entered the dry cleaning business to help expand its reach.
New Plant
In 1991, Nu-Look Cleaners expanded to Madisonville, KY and opened a new plant that was recognized in the January 1992 edition of the American Dry-Cleaning Magazine.
Family and Business Expansion
In 1995, Robby’s wife Vickie joined the family business and Nu-Look expanded to Owensboro, KY with its third plant that was recognized in the January of 1996 edition of the American Dry-Cleaning Magazine.
Consolidation
In the early 2000’s Nu-Look Cleaners consolidated its operations into one central production plant located in Henderson, KY that serviced all of its other locations.
Founder Passes Away
In November of 2016, Martin J. “Sonny” Mills, founder of Nu-Look Cleaners, passed away after a long battle with dementia.
Nu-Look Purchases Pearl
In 2017, Nu-Look Cleaners purchased the 121 year old Pearl Laundry and Cleaners in Evansville, Indiana and its two home and business delivery routes.
3rd Generation Joins the Business
In 2018, Robby and Vickie’s youngest son, Noah Mills, joined the family business. After several years of learning the dry cleaning business, Noah embarked on another expansion phase of the company.
Nu-Look Purchases Model
In 2021, Nu-Look Cleaners purchased the 120 year old Model Cleaners in Hopkinsville and Cadiz Kentucky.
Nu-Look Purchases Kim’s
In 2024, Nu-Look Cleaners purchased Kim’s Cleaners in Newburgh, Indiana.
Nu-Look Rebranding
In 2024 Nu-Look Cleaners and its associated cleaners re-branded to The Nu-Look Family of Cleaners.
Nu-Look Purchases Kim's
Nu-Look Family of Cleaners purchases Kim's Cleaners and Production Plant in Vincennes, IN.
